The DEXTRA SERVER/CLIENT system

dextra_srv is a server software that runs on the ICOM Rptr/Gateway.
The audio packets are transmitted and received as follows:

Notes:

1)
dextra_reflect is the software to use to create
   a D-Star reflector. It will run on any Linux box.


2)
dextra_srv is the software that runs on the Linux
   box where the ICOM repeater/Gateway is running.


3)
To connect to dextra_reflect or dextra_srv, 
you will use the dextra_cli software.
dextra_cli is inside the dextra_clients package.
dextra_streamer is also included in the dextra_clients
package and it streams D-Star audio to a sound card
or to a web site.


How to set it up.
-----------------
1)
First set up rtpDir for Linux or Windows
Read the README file on how to set up rtpDir.
Plugin the dongle.

2)
Setup the dextra_cli client software for Linux or Windows
and let it connect to the rtpDir station and to the 
remote Gateway where dextra_srv server is running
or where dextra_reflect is running.

3) 
You can also use Asterisk/chan_dstar plus dextra_cli
instead of rtpDir


Benefits
========
There is no need to buy dongle for each user in the system.
One user can set up rtpDir, plug in a dongle
and connect the rtpDir station(plus dextra_cli) using that dongle
to the dextra_srv running on the Gateway.
All the other users will connect their Echolink or IRLP
or Asterisk stations to the rtpDir station and will enjoy access
to the ICOM Gateway.
Same thing if you set up an Asterisk station with the chan_dstar.c
channel driver.

With this system, it is impossible for your callsign or IP address
or your dongle to be blocked.
dextra_srv does not use the dplus "blocking" infrastructure.
And most important the dextra_cli software talks to dextra_srv server
and not the "blocking" dplus.

The dextra_cli software can connect to ICOM repeaters/gateways
running dextra_srv or to the D-Star reflectors running dextra_reflect
software.
